A quiet walk [Gina/Open]

[Shugo]

Shugo was all alone as usual. There was a few other people on campus but they weren't as lonely as he was. Most of them were with a friend, or a special someone. Shugo tried not to pay much attention to them and kept his eyes staring down at the path he was walking on. He had his cold hands shoved in his gray sweatshirt pockets and his hood covering his head and shadowing his face. It was apparent that he was annoyed and he felt the stares of two girls walking by sting through him. He couldn't tell if they thought he was weird, or being friendly.

Just another ordinary day. Shugo sighed at this, since he had nothing to look forward to. At least Rose Academy wasn't a bad place and it had some nice people. He saw a tall tree with large branches and decided to walk over to it and lean against it. He lifted his head to get a look at his surroundings then folded his arms and closed his eyes. The music of chirping birds was beginning to relax him. It is real quiet out here. Its peaceful enough to work easily on homework... but who really does it during free time? He thought with a smirk.

Gina walked outside of the school just coming from class. Gina really didn't have any friends to hang out with since she spent most of her time with wild animals. Gina felt as if she had special connection with wild animals, she felt as one with them. Sometimes she could even understand what they are saying, but she wouldn't let anybody else know that. She loved to be in peace so she wandered to where the trees were and away from the few students that were outside. as she walked towards the trees she spotted a boy laying up against the tree with his eyes shut. Gina had not seen him yet, He must be new.... She thought to herself. She walked over to where the boy was standing. "Hello my name is Gina, are you new here?" She said with a smile.

[Shugo]

Shugo was shut out of reality moments before Gina had spoken. He wasn't in thought, or daydreaming. He was just standing with absolutely nothing on his mind. He heard the voice of a girl say something and it took him a couple seconds to realize that she was speaking to him. Shugo opened an eye and without meaning too he gave her an irritated glare. It went away as he opened his other lilac eye and he stared at Gina.

Shugo was puzzled about how happy Gina was. Why did she even care if he was new? Why was she talking to him? Was she a secret spy from one of the gangs he knew of trying to get some information? "Why does it matter?" He asked sharply. Not really the best thing to saw to someone he didn't know. Actually, it was the first thing he said to anyone other than the teachers. "And what do you mean by new?" Shugo asked slowly. He was admittedly curious.

Gina looked at the boy oddly, Why does he look so down? She thought. When he looked at her a chill went up her spine from the stare he gave her. Gina wandered why he wasn't with a friend or something. I don't really want any friends, because I spend most of my time with the animals that lurk around campus. But what was his reason for it? She thought. Then she heard the boy respond to her, but not the way that she had expected. "All im saying is I never seen you around here before and I was just wondering were you new." She said kind of irritated by his answer to her. Why is he being so rude? She thought. To Gina he looked like he has had a bad history and came to Rose Academy to escape from his problems.

[Shugo]

Shugo's eyes darkened and slanted at Gina, looking more irritated now. "Peh, yeah right." He scoffed and he relaxed a little. He looked away from Gina and stared up at the cloudy sky. Only a few were floating all the way up there. The girl seemed to want to get to know him a little, or at least have a decent conversation. For some reason, that couldn't really click in his mind. Why would someone ever be so interested with talking to him?

Who is this kid? She seems kind of... Shugo thought then gave Gina a side glance. Social. He finished his thought with having not the exact right word to describe her. She at first seemed so happy, but now just looked annoyed. He didn't like getting any 'attitude' and sighed heavily."I take it you won't be going away until your question is answered. I arrived here a couple days ago. That is all you need to know, got it?" He answered with a cold stare at Gina.

The way he kept on giving Gina cold stares made Gina a little made. He obviously has issues that aren't solved or he is just being a jerk. Gina thought to herself. When Gina looked at him he sort of a sad and mean look in his eye. He looked kind of lonely. Did something happen? Gina thought again. Most of the time Gina did most of her talking in her head. The only reason why she was speaking to him was because she hadn't ever seen him before and was just curious about who he was. Then she heard his reply to her. "Hey why are you being so rude to me all I asked you was one simple question!" She said letting out a huff. "What is your name since I gave you mine?" She said having a calmer look.

Shugo was beginning to feel surprised that Gina wasn't leaving. Either she was stubborn or he really wasn't bugging her. Being rude wasn't getting him anywhere either way and his irritated stare turned into a relaxed, slightly annoyed gaze. She is a calmer person than I thought. Not that many people would let someone treat them like this without doing something about it or just leaving. He quietly said in his mind while still looking right at her.

"Shugo." He answered shortly and in a more bored tone of voice. He quietly kept in place for a couple moments and an awkward pause was given between the two. "And I'm not rude. Don't accuse me of being it." He grumbled. A blue jay landed nearby them and began to peck at a couple crumbs of bread on the ground. Shugo watched it and smirked as it came over and stared at them as if expecting them to give her something to eat.

Gina watched the gaze in his eye get more calmer than irritated. She was glade to see he stop being such a jerk to her. It was strange, but it seemed like his eyes told his emotions. As he stared at her she felt a little awkward. Then when he finally told her his name she gave a small smile. "I like your name it's nice, I sorry but the way you came off seemed like you were rude." She said kindly. Gina actually didn't mind talking to Shugo, he seemed kind of nice once you get pass the whole first impression. Then when he looked away from her, Gina looked curious of what he was staring at. She then turned her head towards where he was looking at. It was a pretty bird. Gina's smile widened, she loved to see wild animals. Gina then held her hand out for the bird to perch on. Gina started to whistle a little, with in no time the bird was standing on her finger. She then turned back to Shugo, "I can see that you like animals too." She said with a smile.

Shugo rose an eyebrow at the bird as he observed its movements. It seemed as though most animals would like Gina. She seemed like a type of person who would abosutely adore them. He curiously tilted his head, looking more like a child, and his lips were formed in a smile little line. "Not so much." He answered as he looked back at Gina. A part of him was wanting to see how she'd react with him disagreeing on everything, but another part just wanted to give up the tough-guy act for once and just have a normal conversation.

That of course probably wasn't going to happen. "Birds poop on things and it gets annoying." He complained lightly. "But this one has a pretty coat of feathers I guess. It doesn't make her any different than the others though..." He complimented the bird as he watched her whistle happily. It wasn't like him to say something like that but all the birds in the city were dull colored. It was something new to see a bird with such a brilliant shade of blue.

As gina looked at him she thought, I just can't get this guy, he's so different from everybody else here. Gina then looked at the bird and started to pet it gently on it's soft blue feathers. Gina felt special connections with animals and loved to be around them. The animals that she doesn't like are insects especially the spider. Animals like birds are some of her favorites, she loves to hear them sing songs in the morning. Then she quickly looked back at Shugo when he spoke. "Well that is true that birds poop on things, but they do have there good qualities like there singing and sometimes soft feathers. You wanna pet her?" She said to Shugo with a smile and moving her hand closer to him with the bird on it.

Shugo's posture straightened as Gina drew her hand and the bird closer to him. The bird was sitting happily on her finger and stared at him with her black shiny eyes. He felt uncomfortable with the attention on him and he looked away with scowl. "It looks like it wants to eat me." He grumbled and scrunched his nose up only a bit. "Just... keep it away. The bird looks fine rested on your finger." He looked away while fidgeting his hands into his jacket pockets.

Shugo didn't really like birds that much. He had no specific reason for disliking them other than he just didn't. He looked back at Gina a little and sighed. "Why are you still holding that? You look weird with a fluff of feathers perching on you." His eyes narrowed. Isn't she uncomfortable at all? He asked quietly while still in the same position. If he was that bothered by her he would've been leaving. She wasn't getting on his nerves really though.

Gina watched the way Shugo acted towards the bird when she held it close to him. Gina started to giggle a bit. Is he actually scared of this little bird? Although Shugo looked mean Gina started to guess that he was really nice inside and was sensitive. The grew tired of resting on Gina's finger and took fight to the sky. Gina watched as the bird flew off. She then put her hand down. She looked at Shugo again. "Are you scared of that little harmless bird?" Gina said out of curiosity. She couldn't imagine anyone who was scared of such cute harmless animals.

[Shugo]

Shugo glared at Gina and his face turned red from his embarrassment. Him being afraid of a bird? As if! They were other things to be afraid of... like gangs. There was tons of those where he was before he came to the academy. He traveled among side a group who was against them for a short time. He mainly joined them just to get through the city without being a complete loner. The things he faced were much worse than a creepy, sharp-clawed bird. At least, thats what he saw the cute creature to be.

"I'm not afraid of a dumb animal!" Shugo snapped then his lips trembled as he looked away. "I-I just didn't want to touch it, thats all." He added in a more meek voice. Why am I acting like this? It doesn't matter what she thinks of me. He thought to assure himself then faced her. His outburst of angriness seem to not show on his face and he looked a bit more confused than anything else. "How come you like them so much?" He asked her calmly.

Gina watched as his face turned red and heard what he had said to her. She started to giggle even more. Shugo is sure an interesting character, I wish he would let me get to know him better. Gina had never met a boy quite as strange as Shugo, but he was strange in a good way. "I like them, because they are just like us except they don't have as much deceit in their hearts as humans do. They are Innocent." She said with a dim smile. What Gina said was true most humans have corrupted hearts filled with hate and evil. Then other humans like Gina were good, but still had the power to hate.

[Shugo]

Shugo became more quizical and folded his arms while shifting his weight to his right foot. It was peculiar to him how different Gina was compared to the other city folks. She seemed like she cared about nature and had a sweet heart. Everyone that he remembered being around seemed careless and often mean. "How can you tell what an animal is like at heart? There probably is some that aren't that sweet. Their "nice act" might just be a disguise." He told her and looked down at the grassy, moist ground. "Everyone and everything is different inside than they are outside." He is lilac eyes stared into Gina's as he looked puzzled. He bit his lower lip and looked away once again. He didn't know why, but Shugo couldn't really look someone in the eye for that long.
